Altorreal Awayday Monday September 26th 2016

first back in, John Donaldson watches the rest finish their rounds with a well earned pint in front of him………….

.

39 players turned up for the trip to Altorreal, and although the greens could have been in better condition it was great value at only 35 euros. In its elevated position in the hills above Murcia city there were panoramic views from several tees, and on a clear day Condado would be visible on the horizon. Maybe because of the greens, not one player reached the target of 36pts to play to their handicap.

Ever noticed that every time the doorbell rings, the dog is first to the door – and it’s never for him…………..

Heard about the dog that loved garlic? His bark was worse than his bite………….

A duck walks into a bar. It says to the barman ‘got any bread?’

The barman says ‘sorry we don’t sell bread’.

Duck continues ‘got any bread?’.

Barman says ‘I just told you ‘we don’t have any bread’.

Alright then, got any bread?

NO, WE’VE GOT NO BREAD!

Got any bread?

Look you stupid duck we don’t have any bread, and if you ask me again I’ll nail your beak to the bar!

Got any nails?

NO!

Got any bread?

This week saw 59 players in the Cath Emmett-Smith Ladies day major, which included 12 ladies.  Edith Mozes finished as a clear winner, and over 20 ladies took part in the non-golfers putting competition which seemed to be great fun. I think that they all enjoyed the pink cava and nibbles after!

Alicia in form and ready for next week.............

Alicia in form and ready for next week………….

.

This week was the monthly Apollo Air competition, and the company have been with us from the early days. Not only do they provide excellent products, but the after sales service is second to none. Steve is always available to sort out any problems. We thank them for their continued sponsorship.

We had 49 players who played in near perfect conditions, but we cannot remember the winning score being so low – not one player played below their handicap. Alicia Saunders warmed up for next week’s Ladies Day major competition by pipping all the guys with 36 points.

Next week is Ladies Day – ladies go out first. Any wives/partners (non-golfers) who want to join in the putting competition should be at the putting green at 13.00 hours.

Due to unforeseen circumstances the venue at Alhama de Murcia has been cancelled.  The rescheduled venue is at the Condado Club starting at 1930, presentation, food then entertainment by Los Duques.

Menu:
Prawn cocktail
Pate or
Creamy garlic mushrooms

Fish, chips and mushy peas
Lasagne or
Curry

Cheesecake
Lemon torte
Or ice cream

Plus wine.

The price of the new ticket is now 12.50 Euros.

Please give your menu choice and payment to Alicia and receive a refund if you have already paid, before 8pm on Wednesday 7th September.  Please share this posting with your friends.

Due to a late cancellation we have a one bedroom apartment  place available on our autumn trip, this year to the beautiful Spanish seaside resort of Roquetas de Mar. September 19th – 21st (Monday to Wednesday) 2 nights staying in the golf apartments on the fantastic Playa Serena golf resort. Only a few yards from the first tee and 400 yards from the beach, the total cost of the apartment is only 65€. We play golf on the 2nd day (Tuesday) which is 48€ including buggy. The girls all go either to the pool, the beach or round the shops while the guys struggle around the flat, but picturesque golf course which has several lakes. We were there last year and it was so nice we decided to return. If anyone is interested please contact me at barry@cdagolf.com or in person.

As you may know, I have been without my laptop for a couple of weeks, and this has affected what has gone on the blog. However, Craig and Michael from MW IT services came to the rescue and fixed everything at a very competitive rate. I struggled to find anyone in the surrounding area who carry out computer repairs, so they will be a godsend to all local residents of Condado and Camposol. Their office can be found on the upper floor of the shopping precinct in Camposol A, and they are also Condado residents.
