A quieter week with 23 players taking part in an individual stableford. With 5 ladies playing we were able to have 3 divisional prizes.
1st division
Barry Barker 35pts
Andy Fenton 34pts
2nd division
Kevin Smith 41pts
Steve Rogers 38pts
Ladies
Julia Gibson 39pts
Eli Holdhus 33pts
A bit unfortunate for my playing partner David Wareing who played great for 37 pts, but won nothing in his division whilst I trailed in 2 pts behind him and took 1st prize!
The green maintenance has just been completed, and they now look like deserts. Didn’t know whether to book a buggy or a camel! The surrounds of the greens have been slit, all the rough has been cut right back and the fairways have been seeded. Alessandro said the heavy sanding would pay off with super slick greens in the winter. The gulleys in the sandy areas are being filled with rocks and other areas of damage are being smoothed out. Some pictures of the work are added below.
The Clover was opening from 11 for the last 2 weeks, but when we arrived for our presentation at 3 it had just opened, with no cushions out again. By the the time they had put them out and actually returned to the bar it was 3.30. 23 golfers and families had to sit and watch this fiasco. Nothing ever changes with Polaris customer service. So bar now opens at 3 again (or thereabouts).
Rumours still suggest that the Olagolf clubhouse will go ahead but no definite date has been given. Please hurry up so we don’t have to attend the clover.
